STATEMENT OF FAITH

 

We believe the Messiah of Israel, Jesus Christ, Yeshua HaMashiach (shorter "Yeshua") CAME TO THE JEWS FIRST AND THEN THE GENTILES.

Christian creeds were utilized by the early church to eliminate false teachers and false insertions that may have otherwise been allowed in their teachings. Creeds were used to identify and interpret Scripture based on what the discerning early church believed to be the rightly divided word and truth intended by the original apostolic writers.

 

Both Doug and Paige have fought a hard fight to keep the above-mentioned heresies and traditional mega church feel-good insertions out of NUMA's fellowship. We credit early church fathers such as Irenaeus, the Bishop of Lyons, and author of, Against Heresies, and Athanasius, Archbishop of Alexandria, author of,The Athanasian Creed, as our witnesses as to why its so invaluable to continue fighting for the purity and simplicity of the truth. We credit John of Damascus as one of the greatest writers on the Trinitarian relationship mankind has to the Godhead.

 

At NUMA we believe there is no such thing as 'your truth and my truth,' but instead, there is one truth.

The Statement of Faith below is not intended to be entirely exhaustive, but definitive, in that those who intend to visit or consider joining our fellowship will know where we stand on doctrinal matters in the vast world of "churchianity" and doctrinal divides.

To some, they live or die on doctrinal mountains. The ones listed below are our "live or die" mountains of Scriptural interpretation.

THE NICENE CREED

I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come.

THE ATHANASIAN CREED

​

"We worship one God in trinity and the Trinity in unity, neither confusing the persons nor dividing the divine being. For the Father is one person, the Son is another, and the Spirit is still another. But the deity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is one, equal in glory, coeternal in majesty. What the Father is, the Son is, and so is the Holy Spirit. Uncreated is the Father; eternal is the Son; eternal is the Spirit: And yet there are not three eternal beings, but now who is eternal; as there are not three uncreated and unlimited beings, but one who is uncreated and unlimited. Almighty is the Father; almighty is the Son; almighty is the Spirit: And yet there are not three almighty beings, but now who is almighty. Thus the Father is God; the Son is God; the Holy Spirit is God: And yet there are not three Lords, but one Lord."

"As Christian truth compels us to acknowledge each distinct person as God and Lord, so our belief forbids us to say that there are three gods or lords. The Father was neither made nor created nor begotten; the Son was neither made nor created, but was alone begotten of the Father; the Spirit was neither made nor created, but is proceeding from the Father and the Son. Thus there is one Father, not three fathers; one Son, not three sons; one Holy Spirit, not three spirits. And in this Trinity, no one is before or after, greater or less than the other; but all three persons are in themselves, coeternal and coequal; and so we must worship the Trinity in unity and the one God in three persons. Whoever wants to be saved should think thus about the Trinity. It is necessary for eternal salvation that one also faithfully believe that our Lord Jesus Christ became flesh.
 

“For this is the true faith that we believe and confess: That our Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Son, is both God and man. He is God, begotten before all worlds from the being of the Father, and he is man, born in the world from the being of his mother—existing fully as God, and fully as man with a rational soul and a human body; equal to the Father in divinity, subordinate to the Father in humanity. Although he is God and man, he is not divided, but is one Christ. He is united because God has taken humanity into himself; he does not transform deity into humanity. He is completely one in the unity of his person, without confusing his natures. For as the rational soul and body are one person, so the one Christ is God and man.

“He suffered death for our salvation. He descended into hell and rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. At his coming all people shall rise bodily to give an account of their own deeds. Those who have done good will inherit eternal life, those who have done evil will enter eternal fire."

At NUMA, we believe that all 'heresies' can be found at the Trinitarian and/or Christological levels. One focus we will further elaborate on in the coming days will be an early church teaching referred to as "Theosis" and "Perichoresis." 

Theosis is the ability for mankind to become participants in the divine relationship with the Godhead as partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4)  through the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Theosis gives the believer the option for adoption into sonship, ability to commune once again with God AND our fellow humans. Let it be clearly noted here that we do not at anytime partake in the essence (substance) of God, but we do participate in His nature which is how we can become one in the Body of Christ. 

God does not FORCE us into a predestined role (per John Calvin) and has allowed us to exercise our free choice to choose Him when presented with the message of the Gospel or not to choose Him. However, God foreknew who would and would not choose Him if given the option .

"From one man he has made every nationality to live over the whole earth and has determined their appointed times and the boundaries of where they might live. He did this so that they might seek God, and perhaps they might reach out and find him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being, as some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also his offspring.' Since we are God's offspring then, we shouldn't think that the divine nature is like gold or silver or stone, and image fashioned by human art and imagination. Therefore, having overlooked the times of ignorance, God now commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has set a day when he is going to judge the world in righteousness by the man he has appointed, He has provided proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead" (Acts 17:24-30).

NUMA CHURCH believes in the continuation of the Spiritual Gifts 

Although the initial function of the Apostolic gifts have been fulfilled in order to write and close the cannon of Scripture, the Holy Spirit still operates in and through baptized believers today. Believers are encouraged to study Paul's description of the Spiritual gifts as described in 1 Corinthians 12 & 13.

NUMA CHURCH believes the gifts of the Holy Spirit have been heavily misrepresented and abused by the 20th and 21st Century church. Let it be clearly stated that we do not believe in "extra biblical revelation," but believe God still speaks to His children today through various ways, i.e, dreams and visions. Extra biblical means that the revelation man received should be added to that which has already been closed and is outside of the scope of the inherent Word of God, or rather- should be added to the "Holy Scriptures."

Finally, Nothing God shares with His children will misrepresent what has been written, nor will it disagree with any canonical writer.  

NUMA CHURCH has provided training in the area of demonization as we believe that Christians cannot be possessed, however they can be demonized. This is further explained under our "Deliverance" Tab.

NUMA CHURCH

NUMA CHURCH believes the church is a body of born again (regenerated) believers in Jesus Christ. As born again believers, they don't forsake the assembling of themselves together in an atmosphere of faith, but afford one another with the equipping, wisdom, discipline, and alignment required to continue the mission of adding more to their midst day by day. The church cannot exist without the Holy Spirit as he indwells and unites us as one, making up the body of Yeshua, our Lord, Jesus Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God and to exemplify His image while here on earth awaiting our reunion with our Lord. The church is the bride (not replacing Israel) but being grafted into her covenant and will eventually spend eternity with the Godhead as promised by our Lord before He was taken up and seated at the right hand of the Father.

Last Things

As mentioned in the above paragraph, we will continue writing on these topics in the days to follow. NUMA CHURCH doesn't force an end time (eschatological) view on any one of her members. We will teach each position and allow the congregation to decide, as they are led, what the future holds as we certainly all await Christ's Second Coming (Second Advent).

Please refer to our "Watch" tab in order to study and better understand our position regarding the incorporated 501(c)3 church model. We do not follow that model, nor are we participants in the institutional four wall ideologies that come with that "church planting" replicator model. Churches must escape from the matrix that has been implemented in the United States. Planting other non-501(c)3- .inc churches is our vision for the future. We believe the Lord has commissioned us to lead the way for others to exit the enslavement tied to the "old guard" and step back onto the narrow way leading to the Bride without spot or wrinkle our Savior will be looking to receive at His return.
